J.crew Fitting Room Photos
The cobalt vanilla and rose white Heather-stripe sweaters I tried on in the last post were further reduced to $29.99 in store (still full price $89.50 online), plus an additional 30% off on sale items. That was a quick mark down!

Fashion Friday - J.crew Tippi sweater and polka-dot pencil skirt

I stopped by J.crew to peruse the sales racks, and found this pretty yellow Tippi sweater marked down to $29.99. With an additional 30% off my purchase (promotion ends 6/9/2013), I got it for $21.00. The color is "lemon pulp," which is $69.50 online.
I tried on the sweater with the No. 2 pencil skirt in polka-dot jacquard in navy ivory. I really liked the fit and feel of this skirt (and it looked cute paired with the yellow Tippi sweater), but I am trying to cut my spending, and I can't bring myself to pay full price ($118) for it, even with 30% off.
I also tried the Heather-stripe sweater in cobalt vanilla (in XXS) and rose white (in XS). These slouchy linen/cotton sweaters were marked down to $49.99 in store, plus an extra 30% off with the current promotion. They run a bit big - I bought the Tippi sweater in my usual Small but would have gone down to XXS or XS for this. It would be nice for cool summer nights, but the texture was slightly scratchy and it wasn't as good of a deal as the Tippi sweater, so I decided to pass on this.

Fashion Friday - J.crew Factory (part 3)

J.crew Factory Fitting Room Photos
It's not Friday anymore, but I wanted to post one more fitting room review while the current J.crew Factory sale is still going on.
I bought the No. 2 pencil skirt in deck stripe in coastline blue last year (on sale when it got marked down to nearly half of retail price) but missed it in tangier orange, so I was excited to see a nearly identical Factory pencil skirt in nautical stripe in tangier orange. The Factory version retails at $85 but is on sale right now for $42.50 in store/$51 online, which is a steal compared to last year's version which retailed at $118.
I am wearing a Factory size 2 in the photos above, and found it slightly roomier than the J.crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in deck stripe I have in size 2P. I tried it on with the Factory draped pocket tee in ivory in XS (left) and Factory sleeveless popover in alabaster in size 0 (right). It would also pair well with a chambray shirt, but I can't think of additional ways to style it.
In real life, the stripes appear more red than orange to me. In fact, if I didn't know the color was called "Tangier Orange," I would think its just red. Maybe a slightly orangeish-red.
Overall, I liked the fit of the skirt, but I held off on bringing it home with me (for now). It is quite cute, but I am not sure of that I need yet another pencil skirt, especially another striped one. I've been on quite a shopping spree lately, and I'm trying to limit my purchases to items that fill in my wardrobe gaps and really make my heart sing.

I picked up the Factory Printed Sun Shift in Coastline Blue yesterday for 50% off at J.crew Factory's Memorial Day Weekend sale (50% off everything in store / 40% off everything online).
This dress is sooo comfortable and I can picture dressing it up with a blazer & belt for work or dressing it down for the weekends. It will get a lot of wear this summer!

It's a day early for Fashion Friday, but J.crew Factory is running an awesome sale for Memorial Day weekend that starts today (50% off everything in store / 40% off online).
I really wanted the Factory Printed Cora Dress, but sadly they did not have any size 2s left. Loved the cheerful print and classic silhouette, I definitely would have purchased it if my size was still available.

J.crew Fitting Room Photos
I have been waiting to get this silk blouse from J.crew for a long time, but I had difficulty picking a color and I didn't want to pay full retail price for it. So I never added one to my closet... until now! I picked up this Blythe blouse from my local store - it was marked down from $110 to $79.99, and further discounted an additional 30% off, for a final sale price of $55.99. It runs a bit large and I could have sized down from my normal size, but I liked the roomier fit.

My thoughts are still with those injured and their families, as they struggle to return to normalcy. I'm sure that their lives have been changed forever. I am very sad to learn that the three individuals that lost their lives were all under 30 years old. May they rest in peace.

Boston Marathon

My heart goes out to the city of Boston and the running community. I cannot imagine what it was like to be a runner, spectator, volunteer, or first responder at the Boston Marathon finish line yesterday. Thoughts & prayers to the victims and their families.
Although no one I know was hurt by the explosions, it has been difficult for me to focus on anything but the news of the terrible tragedy since yesterday afternoon. I am saddened by what happened but I am also uplifted by the stories and photos of people who ran towards the destruction, to help rip down fencing and barriers, not knowing whether there would be more explosions. These amazing people risked their own lives to help wounded strangers.
I hope we find some answers.

Golf and cherry blossoms

We had weekend visitors again, which gave us an excuse to head out to East Potomac Golf Course. It was perfect weather for some driving range practice, followed by 18 holes on the Blue Course! It's certainly not the nicest course, but its pretty cool that many of the holes have views of the Washington Monument.
